Injectors Developed specifically for KTM by DELL'ORTO, new sensors in each throttle body measure the manifold pressure and adjust the mixture accordingly per cylinder, improving throttle response and smoothing out throttle action for more precise throttle inputs. Cylinder heads A new cylinder head has been developed specifically for the KTM 890 DUKE R to accommodate a set of larger 37 mm intake and 30 mm exhaust valves, while the camshafts feature increased lift and a more aggressive profile. Chez KTM, la Duke 790, en 2018, n'était sortie qu'en version "standard" et en déclinaison 790 L bridable pour les permis A2. En 2020, on prend presque les mêmes mais dans l'autre sens l'autrichien a d'abord dégainé le fer de lance 890 Duke R, et devrait la dédoubler, voire la tripler, avec une version standard plus "basique" et moins chère et une version L en 95 ch qui pourra être bridée à 47 ch pour les jeunes permis. C'est du moins ce que laissent entendre des documents du bureau allemand d'homologation, le Kraftfahrt Bundesamts. Trois Duke 890 en 2021 Et cela semble tout à fait logique, dans la stratégie de plateforme commune aux grands constructeurs, comme on le voit chez Triumph sur les Street Triple. Reste à savoir si à la façon de l'Anglais, l'Autrichien choisira de dégonfler un peu le bicylindre de la R 121 ch sur la version standard, ou pas. On peut en effet en douter puisque sur les 790 Adventure, R et standard disposent du même moteur, ce sont juste les périphériques freins, suspensions, pneus... qui changent pour des éléments moins haut de gamme. Au sujet de la gamme 790 justement, elle va tirer logiquement sa révérence, ne passant pas Euro4 et cédant donc la place à une gamme de 890 complète en 2021, dont on ne connait pas encore la date de disponibilité. Quant au lieu de production des 890, nous attendons confirmation Matighoffen ou Chine chez CFMoto ? Et pour le tarif, sachant que la 790 Duke était proposée à 9 899 €, que la 890 Duke R est affichée à 11 900 €, on peut tabler sur un tarif autour des 10 500 €.

Le trail autrichien passe de 790 à 890 cm2. Mais les évolutions portées sur l’Adventure ne concernent pas que la partie moteur. Quelques jours après les déclinaisons R et Rally, KTM a dévoilé la version standard de son trail de milieu de gamme. Comme la Duke, l’Adventure troque son moteur 790 cm3 pour un twin inédit, normes Euro 5 obligent. L’augmentation de cylindrée profite à la puissance – qui grimpe de 10 chevaux – pour culminer à 105 canassons. Le couple s’établit désormais à 100 Nm. La nouveauté est équipée d’un vilebrequin à la masse alourdie de 20 % par rapport à celui du moteur LC8c de la 790 Adventure. Ceci nous apporte un meilleur feedback dans les bas régimes, un meilleur équilibre et une meilleure traction. Un embrayage renforcé a d’ailleurs été ajouté pour s’adapter à ce surcroît de puissance. Outre ses performances moteur et son électronique pointue, la 890 Adventure se voit équipée de nouveaux amortisseurs Apex WP réglables. Ils permettent de jouer sur la détente hydraulique et possèdent une molette pratique permettant de modifier la précharge du ressort. Sur cette nouvelle version, la selle a également été changée. Elle est désormais en deux parties et réglable en hauteur entre 830 et 850 mm. Le garde-boue est plus bas afin d’éviter toute projection d’eau, boue ou cailloux, lui conférant un aspect plus routier. KTM propose son trail 890 Adventure en orange et en gris. L’écran TFT couleur est conservé, tout comme son assistance et son package électronique. Il comprend un ABS en courbe avec un mode off-road. Un contrôle de traction MTC, ainsi qu’un mode de pilotage Offroad et un mode Rally. La 890 Adventure et sa version A2 seront disponibles en concession à partir de décembre 2020. Le prix n’a pas encore été confirmé, mais il devrait avoisiner les 13 500 €. Les ingénieurs de Kronreif Trükenpolz Mattighofen ont donc repris à leur compte le bouillant moteur 890 de la Duke R, mais en réduisant la puissance de quelques canassons, passant de 121 à 105 chevaux obtenus à 8000 tr/mn, soit 10 chevaux de plus que la 790. Mais le plus important, c'est le couple coupieux 100 Nm à 6500 tr/mn, à mettre en regard avec ce qu'avait la 790 Adventure dans le fond des bielles, 88 Nm à 6600 tr/mn. Là , la différence devrait être vraiment sensible ! KTM ne s'est pas contenté d'une évolution mécanique de nombreuses améliorations accompagnent l'arrivée de cette 890 Adventure R ! Embrayage renforcé, électronique améliorée ABS et contrôle de traction, améliorations au niveau de la transmission pour des passages de vitesse plus rapides, quickshifter optimisé, nouveau commodo au guidon pour l'activation du régulateur de vitesse, châssis revu colonne de direction en aluminium et boucle arrière plus légère, nouveaux freins et nouveaux réglages de suspension. Retrouvez toutes les informations de votre marque préférée KTM va promouvoir le lancement de sa 890 Duke standard en organisant une tournée en 18 étapes et autant de concessions participantes du 2 avril au 27 juin. La marque autrichienne met à disposition 6 machines, parmi lesquelles cinq KTM 890, dont deux versions A2, et une KTM 890 R que l'on a déjà eu en test ici. Tous les essais se dérouleront sur routes ouvertes avec une boucle prédéfinie. Avant chaque session, les pilotes bénéficieront d'un briefing complet sur les technologies mécaniques et électroniques.
